One of the things I love about Landscape Photography is that I get to capture a moment in time of a place that God created and share its beauty with others. Places that people haven't seen yet or maybe they have seen but is a reminder of that memory they may have.
Everyone has a Story and through Photography we can capture a moment and share that story with your loved ones.
The why not the what:
The what is easily identifiable. When someone asks WHAT we do it’s extremely easy to tell people. I’m a photographer but do they know why I do what I do? Most don’t unless I tell them so I’m going to share with you the WHY of our culture.
I spent many years in the funeral business. That’a right... I put the fun in funeral. A little funeral director joke I heard long ago.... I would sit with families as they planned their loved ones service and More than a few times I would listen to the grieving, grieve all the more as they realized dad didn’t like to have his picture made or their son or daughter lost their lives in their prime and there just weren’t enough great pictures to remember their loved ones by. This is a grief that I’ve experienced first hand. Taking pictures is the what but the why goes much deeper.
Portraiture isn’t just to make people look good but rather to record a moment in time so that families can have a lasting record of their loved ones. It brings me a great deal of satisfaction to hear things like; “ that was more fun than I’ve ever had taking pictures and I think that was the best picture anyone ever took of my loved one before they died.” That is our why, it goes beyond the what and touches the heart of people when you can capture an unforgettable moment in time which will last long beyond the moment and will be handed down from generation to generation you know all of the effort is worth it. We will strive here to always do the what of course but with every press of the shutter I will seek to always remember the why.
